JA Program for Grades 7 to 9

In a world where Canadian debt is at a record high, how can we prepare today’s youth to avoid personal debt?

Through JA’s Dollars with Sense program, students gain the vital tools they need to make smart financial decisions, live debt-free and become savvy investors. Students learn money-management skills to become financially aware — starting now as young spenders.

Using interactive games and tools, Dollars with Sense makes learning fun, boosting students’ engagement and confidence.


Students will

  • Identify their financial needs, wants and goals

    1. Develop a money management self-profile

    2. Discover what influences their spending

    3. Learn how to make informed consumer decisions

    4. Calculate the cost of credit

    5. Prepare a budget

    6. Assess the benefits and risks of online shopping and learn how to avoid scams

    7. Receive an introduction to the stock market to learn how wealth can grow through wise investments
